Abstract

This article aims to analyze the governance of electoral conflicts in Indonesia using the parameters of Democratic conflict governance and propose the revitalization of the role of Bawaslu as the main instrument of Democratic conflict governance.The general elections organizer in Indonesia is often causing conflicts in various dimensions. A conflict governance system is needed to regulates all types of electoral conflicts and directs conflicts towards non-violent resolution. Bawaslu as an election supervisor is an main actor in the management and resolution of election conflicts. This study uses qualitative research that reviews Democratic conflict governance as a concept of electoral conflict management and proposes arguments for strengthening the role of Bawaslu. The results of this study found that the governance of election conflicts in Indonesia has not comprehensively regulated the types and forms of existing election conflicts. It is necessary to make legal arrangements for each type of election conflict and give authority to Bawaslu to handle conflict resolution and reconciliation.
